MY FIRST HOLIDAYS IN HAWAII
Aloha! As many of you might be aware, I recently moved to Hawaii during the holidays. While growing up in Puerto Rico I acquired many lively traditions, in particular celebrating the holidays! Nowhere else is Christmas celebrated like in my beautiful Borinquen. As my first holidays in the island, I thought it would be a good idea to give you an idea of what it is like to celebrate the holidays in O’ahu and give you a list of activities perfect for this time of the year.
Waikiki Beach Walk: The Beach Walk is home to the Holiday Mele, a week-worth of holiday entertainment that runs from Dec. 19 through Dec. 25. From 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. every night. You can find different entertainers ready to help you celebrate the holidays!
Ala Moana: At the Ala Moana Shopping Center you can enjoy free holiday entertainment with Holiday Hula Shows at 1 p.m. from Monday to Saturday, except Dec 25. when the shopping mall will be closed.
Honolulu City Lights: Enjoy the night festivities as downtown Honolulu lights up during the holiday season. It is free of cost and open to the public through Dec. 31 from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. You can take a Waikiki Trolley to the event or reserve space on a firetruck that hosts Honolulu City Lights tours. Don’t forget to purchase tickets for the keiki rides and enjoy delicious snacks at the food booths!
Santa Arrives: Each year, Santa arrives via outrigger canoe on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24 starting at 4:30 p.m. Grab the kids and head to the beach in front of the Halekulani Hotel for this awesome events!
Now, get ready and have fun in Hawaii!
